Baseball Twitter was not ready for Monday (Sept. 15) and neither were we. Mets prospect Mitch Voit’s hairline looked so perfect that the Internet is convinced it’s AI-generated. Check out fans’ reactions inside.

The New York Mets brought their top minor league prospects to Citi Field as part of the organization’s annual tradition of honoring their best young talent, and what was supposed to be a routine media availability turned into one of the most unhinged internet moments of the week. All because of one infield prospect named Mitch Voit, who walked into a press room looking like he was rendered by a computer and then had the audacity to also be really good at baseball.

As Yahoo Sports reported, Voit was at Citi Field on Monday after being honored with the Mets’ Development Player of the Year award when video of his media availability started circulating online. What followed was the kind of collective social media breakdown that only happens when reality genuinely challenges people’s ability to process what they are seeing. The man hit .273 this season across Single-A and Double-A, tallied 13 home runs, 59 RBIs and stole 45 bases, which is already an absurd stat line for a prospect the Mets selected 38th overall in the 2025 Draft. Then he walked into a press room looking the way he looks and the internet had no framework for it.

Voit himself kept it professional and baseball-focused during the availability, telling reporters: “I’m trying to figure out my strengths in the box and how do my strengths match up against this pitcher? And how can I maximize this at-bat to bring the most value in that moment?” A perfectly reasonable answer about his development as a hitter. The internet was not listening because the internet was already filing incident reports.

Here is how the social media commentary went once the video started circulating and people started losing their grip on reality one post at a time.

The Internet Reacts

There are many notable features here but that hairline just cannot be real— Jacob (@AndThatsBB) September 15, 2026

“I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again: Mitch Voit might be the most attractive person of all time. Dude deadass looks like an AI-generated Disney prince.” This was one of the first posts to go wide and it essentially set the tone for everything that followed.

The trending topic around Voit accumulated thousands of posts throughout Monday as the video continued to spread, with the discourse split fairly evenly between people discussing his stat line and people discussing everything else about his face and hair.

What makes this entire moment so genuinely funny is the detail that from May 24 through the end of the minor league season, Voit hit .300 with an OPS of .866, which are the numbers of a prospect with a legitimate path to the major leagues, not someone whose primary contribution to the organization is making the media room feel underdressed. The man is doing both simultaneously and the internet simply cannot accept it.

The Mets have had a lot of storylines this season. They did not expect Mitch Voit’s facial structure to be one of them. Neither did he. Neither did we. And yet here we all are on a Monday in September having a completely sincere conversation about whether a Double-A infield prospect was rendered by a server farm in Northern California or by two actual human parents. These are the days that make being online worth it.
