Police: Construction worker dies after being hit by vehicle on I-275 eastbound in Springdale
A construction worker has died after being hit on Interstate 275 eastbound early Friday morning, according to Springdale police.
The crash led to the interstate being shut down for several hours Friday morning. The roadway has since reopened.
Police say they responded to the scene, near the 42.6-mile post, just before 4 a.m. Friday morning.
Officers say a construction worker had been hit by a vehicle while working on the highway. The worker, who was identified by police only as being a man, was taken to Bethesda North Hospital, where he died.
The crash led to the closure of I-275 eastbound, near the I-75 interchange, for several hours Friday.
Bridge repair work is planned in the area this week.
Kathleen Fuller, with the Ohio Department of Transportation, confirmed that a crew member for the contractor doing work in the area was involved in the crash, but she did not have any further information.
Police say it does not appear that impairment was a factor in the crash.
