We’ll be here all Saturday covering every drop of action. But before we kickoff, let’s dive into three intriguing storylines to watch for Week 3.
Lane Kiffin and Oxford
The biggest storyline is far and away Lane Kiffin’s return to Oxford as No. 7 LSU takes on No. 8 Ole Miss tonight.
Unless you haven’t turned on your TV or opened any social media app, you are likely well aware of the drama surrounding this game. We won’t break down all the implications, but in more recent news, LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt will play tonight. The Arizona State transfer went from listed as doubtful earlier in the week, to questionable on Thursday, to not even on the injury report late last night. Interpret that information however you please.

No. 10 Alabama hosts Florida State after last season’s stunner
Now, I am not claiming the Seminoles are going to win this game. I want to make that clear. But, no one thought FSU would win last year either… just saying.
Kentucky held the lead over the Tide after 30 minutes last week after some sloppy first half ball from Kalen DeBoer’s squad. If the Noles can force some similar chaos, things could get interesting in Tuscaloosa.
One stat to mention though—Mike Norvell’s squad has not won a road game in 1,029 days. So there’s that.
No. 16 SMU at No. 23 Louisville lines up as pivotal ACC showdown
Yes, this appears to be Miami’s conference to lose. But, if another ACC team wants to find itself playing postseason football in the CFP, SMU and Louisville are the early favorites.
They are the two highest-ranked ACC teams outside of the Canes, and the Cardinals already proved they can compete with top-10 talent after taking Ole Miss to the wire in a 41-38 loss in Week 1.
Both quarterbacks have been on fire through two weeks, with Louisville’s Lincoln Kienholz already eclipsing 600 yards and SMU’s Kevin Jennings sitting at a modest 767 yards. Expect to see some points this afternoon.
Whoever comes out on top will be in the driver’s seat to make the conference championship game, as neither team faces Miami in the regular season.
