Teodora Kostovic vs Kaitlin Quevedo
Head-to-head: Quevedo 1-0 Kostovic
Quevedo won a very close three setter when the pair faced in the French Open qualifiers earlier this year and this should be a similarly close match, since the gap between the two players is very small at best. That said, on a faster hard court Kostovic should have a good chance to take revenge for the Paris defeat and even up the head-to-head at WTA Sao Paulo.

Anna Blinkova vs Alina Charaeva
Head-to-head: first meeting
Both players have been playing very well this week and there is very little to separate them in general, so this is a very hard match to predict. At her best, Blinkova is the better player of the two, though, and if she can play close to that level she should have the slight edge here.

Nadia Podoroska vs Suzan Lamens
Head-to-head: first meeting
Podoroska is a far stronger player than her #317 ranking would suggest and this should be a very close match. Judging by the level they have shown this week, Podoroska seems to be playing slightly better and she should have the slight edge at WTA Sao Paulo.

Paula Badosa vs Mary Stoiana
Head-to-head: first meeting
Paula Badosa is far better than her #70 ranking suggests, but injuries have been constantly plaguing her recently. If she can stay fit all week, she is the favorite to win this event, but that’s never a certainty for her. That said, she should make it past Stoiana under normal circumstances.
