Hawk reportedly shot off power line in Cape Coral under investigation, FWC says
CAPE CORAL, Fla. —
Authorities are investigating the reported shooting of a hawk that was perched on a power line in Cape Coral.
A neighbor who spoke to Gulf Coast News off-camera said the hawk frequently visited the neighborhood and was on the power line when it was shot, falling straight into an empty lot.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission confirmed it is actively investigating the incident, which occurred on NE 11th Lane. A neighbor said they saw FWC officials investigating the scene.
FWC also stated that the hawk is currently with the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife as part of the investigation.
CROW could not provide an update on the hawk’s condition due to the ongoing investigation.
