What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime soap operas performed during the week of August 31 – September 4, 2026, in Total Viewers, Households, Women 18-49 rating and Women 25-54 rating, including changes compared to Last Week (LW) and Last Year (LY).
Note: Starting with the 2025-2026 television season, Nielsen ratings are based on the Live+Same Day Big Data + Panel model, with last year’s figures based on the former Live+Same Day Panel-only model (2024-2025 season).
On Friday, September 4, “The Young and the Restless” and “Beyond the Gates” aired as amended titles, with their telecasts excluded from their weekly averages among Households and Total Viewers. Additionally, “General Hospital” and Beyond the Gates” were impacted by interruptions from special reports on the Lindsay Clancy trial.
“Beyond the Gates” aired repeats during the comparable week last year. Therefore, its year-ago averages were unavailable.

About Nielsen Ratings
Rating: Estimated percentage of U.S. TV viewers (demographics, households, etc.) tuned in to a specific television program during an average minute.
Methods: As of September 22, 2025, the numbers above are calculated using Live+Same Day Big Data + Panel viewing and DVR playback, defined as 3:00 a.m. – 3:00 a.m., and are courtesy of Nielsen.
Starting in early 2026, Nielsen introduced the Advertising Research Foundation’s Latency Adjusted DASH UE (Universe Estimate) survey into its reporting, and as of August 31, 2026, the service has made “key enhancements” to improve its accuracy by correcting timing delays in survey data. Universe estimates are, as the name implies, an approximation of the total number of households or persons in a particular category – in this case, media consumption capabilities of U.S. homes. While previous DASH UEs were based on 2024 survey data, Nielsen is now updating them to reflect more recent trends in consumer behavior.
Shift: Beginning August 31, 2020, national ratings include Out-of-Home (OOH) viewing. Previously, ratings did not include OOH viewing. Averages are based on regular telecasts.
