There will be more Crew Girl in our future. Netflix has renewed the popular YA drama for a second season.
Written by Vivian Lin, Crew Girl is described as a frothy, coming-of-age teen drama about a 16-year-old female rower Teagan (Miku Martineau) who becomes the coxswain of a dysfunctional all-boys rowing team at an elite East Coast Prep School. Warring rivals, messy romantic entanglements, and betrayed friendships spill drama both in and out of the boat. Not to mention her complicated relationship with her mom, Ella (Jessica Paré). The team’s a mess, her life’s a mess. Can she fix both and win?
In the first season of the show, Teagan asserts herself as a true leader despite trying out for a spot on the all-girls’ rowing team at Gravenhurst Academy as part of an offer from her teammate Baloo Garner’s (Jude Wilson) twibling Britney (Sage Linder). She entertains switching schools from Easton Prep very briefly, but her teammate affectionately known as Crab Catcher (Jarrett Carlington) convinces her to stay.
“I am beyond excited for Crew Girl season two! There’s so much left to explore with the characters, the romances, and the rowing team, it’s going to be a ride for sure!” Martineau said. “All I know is that it will definitely be a packed, juicy, drama filled second season so I’m ready to get back in a boat and on camera! #teamteagan”

In addition to Martineau and Paré, cast includes Sam Braun (The Marshmallow Experiment, Time Cut, Bad Genius) as Josh Regis; Kyle Clark (Hello, Goodbye and Everything in Between, The Baby-Sitter’s Club, Riverdale) as Cam Dillinger and Thomas Cadrot (Scream, So Help Me Todd, Family Law) as Coach Hayden.
A love triangle ensued between Teagan, Josh (Braun) and Cam (Clark) in Season 1, with a sweet kiss shared between Teagan and Cam in the finale after she had a casual fling with Josh. But after she kisses Cam, Britney resurfaces and so does her offer of an all girls rowing team, this time at Easton Prep itself. For context, Britney was dating Josh at the beginning of Season 1, but they broke up at the Fall Formal before he and Teagan got together.
“I find their relationship very complicated. Yes, Josh sort of started [it] but it’s not really about Josh. It’s about these two [girls] who are incredibly competent at the top of their game because they suss each other out the first time that they meet each other,” Lin told Deadline of the tension between Teagan and Britney. “And it’s like, ‘I don’t want to lose to you’ is always in both of their minds. So, what does that look like? And now on the water?”

The question remains unanswered for now whether Teagan will still be able to cox the boys and row on the girls team with Britney as her teammate. Josh is also working through hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, HOCM, which may bench him from the boat entirely next season.
“We are taking it seriously. He really does have hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, HOCM. There are ways to — well, I don’t want to spoil anything. It is serious. We don’t know. Josh doesn’t know. So what does that mean for his life?” Lin said. “And what does that mean for his family? They are now on the outs. There’s really interesting things to explore in that world, and if he’s not a rower, what does he have in common with anybody now?”
