The Round of 16 begins at the 2026 WTA Singapore Open. For many tennis players, this tournament also marks the true start of the fall season. There were events last week, but for many players, it was time to rest after the US Open and the grueling North American summer hardcourt season. Now we truly move into the fall, a time in tennis when top players take a bit of a backseat to second-level players, who might not have done as much as they hoped this year, and are now fighting for ranking points and prize money. Players who didn’t rack up points in the spring and summer enter the fall knowing they have to finish strong. Many are in good physical shape for the final months of the season. Oleksandra Oliynykova and Maja Chwalinska are both clay-dominant players. Both played at least 25 clay matches this season and no more than 10 matches on any other surface. Oliynykova is 4-1 indoors this year; Chwalinska is 8-2. On outdoor hardcourt, Oliynykova is 3-5, Chwalinska is 4-6. Oliynykova is 3-2 in her last five matches, Chwalinska 2-3. Both players won their WTA Singapore first-round matches in straight sets.

Best Bet to Make

Chwalinska is a very clear market favorite at 1.48. That’s not great value for a moneyline bet. What spread values exist? You could try Chwalinska for -2.5 games at 1.65, but Oliynykova has lost to some really good players in her last several matches, such as Alexandra Eala and Mirra Andreeva. Oliynykova is good enough to get one set. That’s our preferred standalone wager. It’s much better than Cwalinska moneyline.

Elise Mertens – Barbora Krejcikova: 2:00 EST

This is one of the better early-round WTA Singapore matches. It’s between two battle-tested veterans. Elise Mertens is playing her first indoor match of the year, Barbora Krejcikova her second. Krejcikova barely defeated Anna-Lena Friedsam in the first round, winning 7-6 in the third set. This is a hardcourt indoor tournament, so hardcourt records might interest bettors, even though they are outdoor records. Mertens is 17-10 on hardcourt this year; Krejcikova is 11-8 on outdoor hard, 12-8 if you include her first-round win. Mertens is 3-2 in her last five matches; Krejcikova is 1-4.

Best Bet to Make

The Mertens moneyline odds for this WTA Singapore match are just low enough that it won’t offer a great return on investment. Mertens is the more in-form player. Krejcikova struggled against Friedsam, a much lower-ranked player, in the first round. Mertens minus a small game spread is a good standalone wager.

This WTA Singapore tournament is an important one for Leylah Fernandez. She has struggled much of 2026, but remains a top-35 player. With a strong fall season, she could rise into the top 25, maybe the top 20, and reduce the damage she’s endured this year. Without any Major tournament pressure, Fernandez can relax. Her opponent, Alycia Parks, won her first-round WTA Singapore match in straight sets and will try to stay in rhythm here. Parks is 3-1 indoors this year. Fernandez is 1-0. Both players are under .500 in outdoor hardcourt matches this year.

Best Bet to Make

Parks slightly leads the head-to-head, but this WTA Singapore match is a time for Leylah Fernandez to bounce back. Fall tennis is a time for players who underachieved in the spring and summer to put up or shut up. We think Fernandez will respond to her points situation and win in straight sets.

That being said, betting on Fernandez winning 2:0 is a value bet for sure.
