GRANGER, Ind. (WSBT) — Juday Creek Golf Course is finally getting back in the swing of things!

A massive fire destroyed the clubhouse nearly two years ago, and since then, the course has operated without it.

But on Tuesday, the wait is officially over as a groundbreaking celebration is underway!

This groundbreaking is about much more than construction.

It’s about resilience, hope and a new chapter at the course and many here celebrating were also here on the devastating day.

Instead of golf clubs, it was shovels hitting the ground at Juday Creek Golf Course.

The owners say even right after the fire they knew they had to rebuild.

The construction of the new clubhouse will be done by Nugent Builders, a family member of the owners, because they say this course has always been a family operation.

But with the rebuilding process came some challenges, like rising costs, new codes and limited insurance coverage.

Because of that, the clubhouse will be about half the size and will not have a banquet room.

It will have golf simulators, more bathrooms and a deck overlooking the course.

“We are super excited and thrilled to see so many people from the Community that came out to join us. I’m so appreciative, and it’s now I’m forward. We are gonna have a new building,” said Linda Rogers, Juday Creek Golf Course owner.

According to Rogers, it’s still too soon to put a completion date on the project, but she hopes the new clubhouse will be finished as soon as possible.

Golfers WSBT talked with say they are excited to have their community hub back because when it went away, it was tough.

“It was tough it was tough. This was my life. So I am happy for them to get it up again, and I am excited for this to be my biggest expense I have each month,” said Bob Buckley, long-time Juday Creek golfer.

According to the owners, it’s too soon to have a completion date, but with this groundbreaking they are one step closer.
