Baltimore County police say injured man taken to hospital
TOWSON, Md. —
Baltimore County police are investigating a shooting that left an 18-year-old man injured Sunday evening and the Towson University campus on alert.
According to police, officers were called around 7:30 p.m. for a shooting in the 8000 block of York Road. An 18-year-old man was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Authorities asked people to avoid the area amid a large police presence.
A shelter-in-place alert was issued Sunday night campus-wide at Towson University, which advised of an emergency situation in which everyone on campus was advised to shelter in place, close windows and doors. The shelter-in-place alert was lifted around 10 p.m.
TU Public Safety sent an alert to the campus community at 7:20 p.m. reporting a shooting at 8013 York Road.
Shortly before 8:30 p.m., the university sent an email notice to community members, saying a shooting investigation was underway at the Cardiff Hall Apartments, and there was police activity in the area amid a search for suspect(s).
The university reported additional police activity on campus near Osler Drive that was related to the shooting.
No further information was immediately released.
