OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – A child was hurt in an overnight shooting in the North Omaha area.
Omaha police and fire crews responded to a home near 26th and Spaulding streets shortly after 11 p.m. Monday, where they found a juvenile suffering from a gunshot wound.
Omaha Police Lt. Chuck Casey at the scene told First Alert 6 the child is a 12-year-old boy. He was taken to the hospital in what Casey says is critical condition.
The shooting is believed to have happened either inside or directly outside the home.
Investigators are speaking with witnesses and a person of interest to determine what led up to the gunfire, including whether the shooting was accidental.
“There’s several people here. There’s several people who we’re talking to to find out what led up to that,” Casey said.
