Utah’s rebuild has reached the stage where the questions change. For four seasons the goal was collecting assets. Now the assignment is turning them into wins, and the Jazz open training camp with a roster far deeper than the one that finished 22-60 and 15th in the West. Darryn Peterson, the No. 2 pick out of Kansas, arrives as a play-ready guard. Jaren Jackson Jr. is fully recovered from knee surgery after appearing in only three games following his arrival from Memphis. Keyonte George has a five-year, $157.5 million extension. Veterans Jusuf Nurkić, Jaxson Hayes, Josh Okogie and Josh Green fill out the rotation.
The sportsbooks are not convinced yet. Compare the board across RG.org’s online sportsbooks before committing, because FanDuel and BetRivers price the Jazz differently in almost every futures market.
Jazz Championship and Conference Odds: BetRivers Pays More
Utah sits in the same neighborhood as Dallas, Phoenix and Washington, well behind Oklahoma City and San Antonio at the top of the West. The gap between books is where the value lives.

A $100 title ticket returns $15,000 in profit at BetRivers against $12,500 at FanDuel, a 20% bump for the identical result. The conference number tells the same story: +8000 at BetRivers implies a 1.2% chance, while FanDuel’s +6000 implies 1.6%. On both markets the higher payout belongs to BetRivers.
BET JAZZ FUTURES AT BETRIVERSWhy the Jazz Are Better Than 22 Wins
The record undersells the roster’s shape. Utah ranked ninth in the league in points per game (117.6) last season, so the offense already produced. The collapse came at the other end: the Jazz were last in points allowed (126.0 a night) and 29th in defensive efficiency, and they have ranked in the bottom two on defense in each of the last three seasons.
The most damning number is the three-point line. Opponents took 45.1% of their shots from beyond the arc, the highest rate in the league, and 59% of those attempts were wide open, also the league’s highest mark. Utah allowed 15.3 made threes per game, the most for any defense in the 47 years the three-point line has existed. Fixing rotations and closeouts around the perimeter is the single biggest lever for improvement.
The personnel is built to pull it. Jackson is a former Defensive Player of the Year and a three-time All-Defense selection. Okogie and Green bring point-of-attack toughness. Hayes is a shot-blocker, while Nurkić offers size, passing and double-doubles rather than rim protection. Losing Walker Kessler to the Lakers on a four-year, $130 million deal hurts on paper, but his 2025-26 season was essentially lost to shoulder surgery anyway. Because coach Will Hardy has several combinations of size and style to choose from, the Jazz can go big with Markkanen and Jackson together or small and fast around George and Peterson.
Darryn Peterson and Ace Bailey: The Award-Market Angles
Peterson gives Utah an immediate answer at guard, and the award board treats him accordingly. BetRivers lists him at +300 for Rookie of the Year, level with Cameron Boozer and ahead of AJ Dybantsa at +400. At 25% implied, that is a fair price for the No. 2 pick who will have a featured role from opening night.
Ace Bailey is the sharper play. The No. 5 pick in 2025 opened last season cold, making only eight of his first 32 shots and scoring 4.4 points a game over his first five outings. He averaged 10.4 points through December and then 16.2 points and 4.9 rebounds from Jan. 1 onward, all at age 19. With Peterson likely to start beside George, Bailey is positioned as the instant-offense sixth man, a role that suits a scorer who started 61 of his 72 appearances but never had a bench-unit green light.
Ace Bailey, Sixth Man of the Year: +2000 at BetRivers (4.8% implied).Ace Bailey, Most Improved Player: +6000 at BetRivers. Will Hardy, Coach of the Year: +1200 at BetRivers, a price that only pays off if Utah climbs into the play-in race.SHOP NBA AWARD ODDS AT FANDUELKey Matchups on the Jazz ScheduleOct. 25, Lakers vs. Jazz: the third game for both teams, with Hayes and Kessler each facing their old club.Nov. 27, Nuggets vs. Jazz: Utah has lost 10 straight to Denver, one more than its losing streak against Oklahoma City. The Jazz climbed from 17 to 22 wins last year. A jump to roughly 37 victories is a realistic target that keeps the team in the play-in conversation, and the market prices them as exactly that kind of team.
Best bet: Jazz to win the NBA title at +15000. Take BetRivers over FanDuel’s +12500. A small stake on a team with two All-Star-caliber forwards, a top-two pick and a defensive anchor is the type of lottery ticket that costs little and pays a great deal.
Value play: Jazz to win the Western Conference at +8000. Again BetRivers pays the most, and it avoids needing to survive an NBA Finals opponent from the East.
Wins play: Jazz 50+ regular-season wins at +1000 (FanDuel). A 9.1% implied probability is too high for a team that needs a 28-win improvement, so keep the stake small and treat it as a hedge on the roster’s ceiling.
Fade: expecting a top-six seed. Oklahoma City and San Antonio are both around +140 to +150 for the West, and Denver, Minnesota and Houston all sit clearly ahead of Utah. Any wager should assume a play-in path.
Predicted finish: 12th to 10th in the West, around 37 wins, a play-in appearance and a defense that finally leaves the bottom five.
