BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) – For the first time in its history, the Capitol Theatre hosted a sitting governor Tuesday evening as Governor Andy Beshear visited Bowling Green on his latest book tour stop.
Beshear met with community members to discuss his debut book, “Go and Do Likewise.” The book explores his faith, his time leading the commonwealth, and his philosophy of compassionate politics.
During his remarks, Beshear stressed unity across the American political landscape and urged Kentuckians to make their voices heard at the ballot box this November.
“If we would just spend 80% of our time on things that matter to 100% of people, the idea that if we improve in any of those areas, we lift everyone up and we leave no one out, we get a lot more done,” Beshear said.
Beshear also called on attendees to lead with empathy heading into election season.
“We’ve been reminded of who we are as Americans, that we can better support each other, and that we recognize that kindness is never a weakness,” Beshear said. “And I hope each and every one of you enjoys the book. I hope it gives you a little bit of hope. And I hope it gives you the encouragement to stand up, to speak out, and this November, let’s send a message.”
The nationwide book tour is scheduled to wrap up Oct. 23 in Los Angeles.
