During Tuesday’s “Cyclone Coaches’ Corner” show, the longtime Iowa State athletics director joined host John Walters and confirmed he is leaving after this week.

“We’ve mentioned this is your final coaches’ show,” Walters said. “This is your final week in office. What are you working on this week, and how emotional is it to be in the office this week?”

“It hasn’t been as emotional as I thought,” Pollard said. “I’m sure it will be Saturday night when we clean out my office.”

Pollard shared kind words for his athletic department colleagues and Iowa State coaches during the show.

Pollard announced his upcoming retirement back in July. Initially, he was expected to step down on June 30, 2027, but he told KCCI he would leave earlier than that if Iowa State found his replacement and later said he expected to be done before basketball season.

Iowa State has not announced an interim or permanent athletics director to replace Pollard. The university launched a nationwide search for Pollard’s replacement this fall.

Pollard on Wednesday morning told KCCI’s Scott Reister that Saturday’s game against West Virginia will be his last home game and his last day in the office. He said he’ll attend Big 12 Conference meetings next week and ISU’s football game at BYU on Friday, Oct. 9. He’ll work remotely after the BYU game until the school names his successor sometime in mid-October.

Additionally, Pollard said this is the final week for Calli Sanders, a longtime senior associate athletics director at Iowa State.
