There are few ways to show more passion for one’s sports team than to get the logo permanently inked with a tattoo.

That is just what Portland Fire interim president Clare Hamill did this week, less than two months after taking on the role.

Hamill and at least one other Fire staffer got team logo tattoos this week from Portland artist Ink Bus, the Fire said Friday evening in a social media post. Hamill, a longtime Nike executive who replaced the departed Inky Son, had the Fire’s rose icon logo tattooed on her left arm. Another staffer got the team’s “P” icon inked on her left arm.

Hamill followed through after saying at the team’s launch event last month that she planned to get a Fire tattoo. And Ink Bus had been at the launch event as well, with some fans getting logo tattoos that day.

The Fire are owned by RAJ Sports, which also owns the Portland Thorns soccer team of the NWSL, and the team is back for its second stint in the WNBA after previously playing in Portland from 2000-02. The new iteration of the Fire are set to begin play in the 2026 season.
