SEATTLE — There will be an important discussion at the Museum of Flight on Saturday, October 3, 2026, about the men who hit the air in a role historically dominated by women.

Phil Tiemeyer is the author of ‘Plane Queer: Labor, Sexuality, and AIDS in the History of Male Flight Attendants’. The book focuses on the history of male flight attendants and the various hardships they faced at work decades ago leading into modern history.

Tiemeyer joined ARC Seattle co-anchors Steve McCarron and Holly Menino to talk about the inspiration for his book, how these workers helped create an important place for gay men and garner acceptance, and his talk at the Museum of Flight.
