CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – In a sudden move from Cleveland Clinic Lutheran Hospital, strikers’ healthcare coverage are being revoked starting Thursday. The workers have been on strike since Sept. 23.

This move by Cleveland Clinic blindsided the workers on strike, as they didn’t warn them about the loss of healthcare when they went on strike last week.
“These caregivers deserve better than threats and intimidation from their employer who claims to care about their workforce and the patients they serve. Less than six hours notice – that’s unforgivable. Caregivers can’t trust Cleveland Clinic… Why should our community?”

SEIU 1199 members have passed a resolution to help protect caregivers on strike and will give continued healthcare coverage through the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA).

Union leadership says that the Lutheran Hospital Union members will remain on strike until a fair agreement has been reached with Cleveland Clinic.
