La Crosse Police are asking for the community’s help in finding a 16-year-old suspect in Thursday evening’s fatal shooting on the south side of the city.

Police are looking for Antonio A. Johnson.

He is wanted on a charge of 1st Degree Intentional Homicide in the shooting death of Rashied M. Scheuelke.

The shooting happened around 5:22 p.m. at the intersection of 7th and Hood streets, according to police.

Lifesaving measures were attempted on Schuelke before he was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

In a criminal complaint filed against Johnson, it said that one of Schuelke’s friends was driving around and had dropped Schuelke off in the alley. As Schuelke walked around the back of the vehicle, the driver heard three shots, looked back through the rear window and saw Schuelke go down.

In a statement from the department, police said that they’re advising the public not to approach Johnson, but to contact law enforcement.
