Report: Ja’Marr Chase diagnosed with concussion during Bengals’ loss to Jaguars
CINCINNATI —
Bengals star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase was reportedly diagnosed with a concussion during Cincinnati’s loss against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
According to ESPN, medical staff quickly determined that Chase had suffered the concussion after he was tackled by Jaguars cornerback Jarrian Jones in the second quarter. During the tackle, Jones spun Chase around while grabbing onto his face mask, causing the First-team All-Pro wide receiver to hit his head as he was slammed down onto the turf.

It was not immediately clear how long Chase may be out as a result of the injury.
Jones was ultimately penalized for the illegal facemask, giving Cincinnati a first down that would allow the Bengals to score their first field goal of the game just minutes later.
However, the Bengals would still ultimately go on to lose 22-17 to the Jaguars in Chase’s absence.
Last season, fellow star wide receiver Tee Higgins also had numerous similar concussion scares, keeping him sidelined for two games.
After Chase was ruled out, Higgins, Dohnte Meyers, and Mitch Tinsley all served as wide receivers for the remainder of the game.
However, Higgins would also later be sidelined in the fourth quarter after suffering an adductor injury during a catch that caused the Pro Bowler to land awkwardly on his leg.
