Dunn police investigated a bomb threat at a Walmart on East Jackson Boulevard in Erwin on Sunday.

The call reporting the threat came into the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office dispatch center around 6:30 p.m., according to Dunn Police Chief Lynn Gay. Although the Walmart has an Erwin address, it falls under the Dunn Police Department’s jurisdiction.

Seven Dunn police units, along with sheriff’s deputies, searched the store and found no credible threat, police said. Erwin police assisted with traffic control.

When the WRAL Breaking News Tracker arrived around 9 p.m., officers began reopening the parking lot.

Walmart provided the following statement to WRAL:

“The safety of our associates and customers is a top priority. We appreciate the swift response of local law enforcement and will work closely with them as they investigate.”
