At Balloon Fiesta Park, chainsaw carvers are showcasing their skills by transforming large logs into intricate wooden sculptures.

Inside their booth, massive logs of wood are turned into creations such as bears, eagles, and even hot air balloons. Jason Emmons, a chainsaw carver with Bear Hollow, said visitors can watch the demonstrations, purchase carvings at the shop next door, or request custom creations.

“We start early in the morning and go all the way till the fireworks. I guess it’s really the atmosphere and the people that come to see the show. We draw straight from them; we draw energy from them when we feel a little bit tired; it gives us a boost to keep on going,” Emmons said.

The team of carvers, who are from Colorado, Pennsylvania, and Indiana, is celebrating its 10th year at Balloon Fiesta.

Visitors can also win a piece of the artwork at auctions held Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 10 a.m.
