Looking to try something new? The Cape Coral Art Center has classes for just about every kind of artist, whether you’re picking up a paintbrush for the first time or already have some experience.

The center, located at 4533 Coronado Parkway, has been part of the Cape Coral community since 1977. It offers year-round classes in a variety of fine arts and crafts, with sessions typically lasting four to six weeks.

Students can choose from classes in acrylic, watercolor and oil painting, along with drawing, pottery, ceramics and sculpture. There are also classes for people interested in jewelry making, silversmithing, wire wrapping and precious metal clay.

If glass is more your thing, the Art Center offers glass beadmaking, glass fusing, stained glass and copper enameling. Some classes are designed for beginners, while others are geared toward intermediate and advanced artists looking to build on their skills.

There are also classes for kids and teens, with clay being one of the center’s popular youth offerings. The Art Center also hosts single-day workshops, giving people a chance to try a new medium without signing up for a multi-week class.

And you don’t have to be an artist to visit. The center also features rotating gallery exhibits, an art supply store and a gift shop featuring artwork made by students, instructors and local artists.

For instructor Erica Kolph, the Cape Coral Art Center is about more than just making art. She said the center is a resource for the community and a place where people can connect while exploring their creativity.

“This place is a resource. The City of Cape Coral invests into this place because they care about the arts. This space is so special to us, it’s a social thing but also such an incredible creative outlet.”
