UPDATE: Hermiston Police Chief Jason Edmiston reported a 40-year-old man was found deceased in his residence on Oct. 1. Hermiston police investigated and believed controlled substances were involved. Family members then went to clean the house. They found what they believed was a homemade pipe bomb which they threw in the trash.
Sanitary Disposal then collected the trash. The family members related what they found to their mother a little later and she called the police department to let them know.
“Our primary role at this point has been to connect resources with Sanitary Disposal leadership,” Edmiston said.
