TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Two people spotted a moose near Kimberly Road & Hankins Road Friday morning.
Idaho Fish and Game is monitoring the animal’s movement and said it will provide updates if additional information emerges or if the moose poses a risk to public safety.
People hiking or recreating in areas where moose are present should give the animals plenty of space and make a lot of noise to avoid surprising them, officials said.
If you encounter a moose, watch for signs it may be agitated or defensive. Those signs can include flared nostrils, pinned-back ears, stomping and raised hair along the neck.
If a moose charges, officials say the priority is to put a barrier between yourself and the animal, such as a large tree or vehicle.
