WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – The Urban League of Kansas is offering free financial counseling.
It’s part of the organizations broader push to help people improve their financial literacy.
Instead of offering a class to help people with their finances, organizers say that individual appointments will be more beneficial to people who want to keep their finances private.
The program director will sit down with each person and go over their financial records and documents. That person is then given a personalized budget, savings plan and even investment advice.
Eric Litwiller, Director of Development and Partnerships at Urban League of Kansas, said the program is for people who want to work on their finances but may be overwhelmed.
“People don’t know where to begin. It can be very easy to be overwhelmed and say, ‘I don’t want to do anything,’ but a big part of Urban League’s mission is to help people raise themselves up from a financial standpoint,” Litwiller said. “I think this is a great place to start.”
The counseling sessions will be available at the Urban League office in Wichita. Anyone interested can call the organization at 316-262-2463 to schedule an appointment.
