Washington | Australian ambassador to the US Greg Moriarty will use a high-stakes hearing to argue Australian lamb exports have helped lift American consumption of cutlets and racks, and that the US industry is struggling because of a shrinking flock and drought, not foreign competition.

Moriarty will be the most senior government representative to appear before the US International Trade Commission on Friday (Saturday AEDT) for a one-day hearing, as Canberra and the Australian sheep industry seek to protect $1.6 billion in annual exports from tariffs or other trade barriers.
