A good book can open a whole new world for a child, and thanks to you, more young readers across Kansas City will have one in their hands.
Our KMBC 9 Cares for Kids book drive for Lead to Read set a goal to collect 1,000 new and gently used books.
You helped us nearly double that number with close to 2,000 books collected.
Thank you to all who donated.
A special thanks to our KMBC 9 News team for sharing stories during story time and helping spark a love of reading.
That’s at the heart of Lead to Read KC’s mission: helping children across Kansas City build strong reading skills and a lifelong love of books, with support from caring reading mentors.
These donated books will help make that possible.
They’ll reach young readers across our community and stock “Reading is Everywhere” baskets at more than 80 locations.
