The Rockvile City Police Department has issued a public safety report after a rabid raccoon was reported on Saturday afternoon.
According to Rockville Police, the department has received reports of a rabid raccoon observed in the Hungerford Stoneridge Community along Mt. Vernon Place.
Rockville Police offered the following Safety Tips:
“Do not approach or attempt to capture the animal.
Keep pets and children away from the area.
Ensure pets are up to date on rabies vaccinations.
Report any unusual or aggressive wildlife behavior immediately.
If you see the raccoon or other suspicious wildlife activity, please contact the RCPD at 240-314-8900. An Animal Services Unit will be dispatched to respond.
