MIDDLEBURY, Vt. (WCAX) – The Middlebury Police Department and the Vermont Fish and Game are working together regarding bears in a tree at the intersection of Main Street and North Pleasant Street. The bears were first spotted in the tree on Saturday.
These videos and images were shared with WCAX from people in the area.
The Middlebury Police Department and Vermont Fish and Game are asking that the public to give the bears lots of space.
Officials say these are wild animals that do not want to interact with people and will tend to stay in a tree longer if people are gathering in the area.
The departments said they want the bears to feel safe to come down from the tree on their own.
