Officials say there is no threat to the public at this time
PITTSBURGH —
Pittsburgh Police Bomb Squad and Hazmat teams are in Downtown Pittsburgh Monday afternoon over concerns about a suspicious letter that arrived at the same building as U.S. Sen. Dave McCormick’s office.
The package arrived at 310 Grant St. in the mail at approximately 1:30 p.m., according to Pittsburgh Public Safety. The 911 calls were made just before 3:30 p.m., according to Allegheny County Dispatchers.
Sky4, Pittsburgh’s only news chopper, was above the scene as emergency responders were in front of the building.
In a statement made to Pittsburgh’s Action News 4, a spokesperson for Dave McCormick said, “We received a piece of mail that caused us to reach out to local law enforcement and we have nothing else to say at this time. Our office remains open for business.”
Officials have now left the scene. Pittsburgh Public safety can now confirm that the contents of the letter were found to be non-hazardous. There has been confirmation on what exactly was in the letter.
