JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Each Tuesday in the season, News4JAX will release its Super 6 football rankings of teams who play independent football. Here are the 10th rankings of the season.
Varsity 4 independent Super 6, Week 111. (2) Episcopal (9-0, SSAA)
Last week’s result: Beat Eagle’s View, 68-0. This week: vs. Fernandina Beach (3-6). Coaches poll ranking: 1.
Why they’re here: The Eagles move to the top spot for the first time as they chase the second unbeaten season in program history (2002). The schedule has been lean but Episcopal has throttled teams. The finale will be very challenging this week.
2. (1) West Nassau (6-2-1, SSAA)
Last week’s result: Lost to Jackson, 24-19. Next week: at Keystone Heights (2-7), 7:30 p.m. Coaches poll ranking: 2.
Why they’re here: The Warriors fall out of the top spot for the first time this season after back-to-back losses. Their schedule has been so much more difficult than any other of the Super 6 teams, so I’m hesitant even dropping them a spot. They’ll make up ground in the SSAA state playoffs.
3. (3) Paxon (7-2, SSAA)
Last week’s result: Beat Keystone Heights, 50-0. This week: vs. Union County (5-4), 6:30 p.m. Coaches poll ranking: 4.
Why they’re here: The Golden Eagles have been rock solid this season. They’ve got a tough Union County team this week in hopes of cashing in on an eight-win regular season.
4. (4) Christ’s Church (8-1, SSAA)
Last week’s result: Beat True Institute, 57-6. This week: at Englewood (1-7), 6:30 p.m. Coaches poll ranking: 3.
Why they’re here: Eagles and RB Jaylin Robinson have been obliterating teams as they barrel towards the SSAA state playoffs. Only loss was a 31-29 thriller to No. 3 Paxon in Week 3.
5. (6) Hilliard (8-0, FHSAA)
Last week’s result: Beat Dixie County, 28-22. This week: at Cornerstone Classical (6-2). Coaches poll ranking: 5.
Why they’re here: Red Flashes continue to ride the hot streak of RB DJ Alderman (28 rushing TDs, 1,765 yards) as they chase a perfect regular season.
6. (NR) Fernandina Beach (3-6, SSAA)
Last week’s result: Beat Providence, 3-6. This week: at (1) Episcopal (9-0). Coaches poll ranking: NR.
Why they’re here: Five of Pirates losses have all come to quality state series teams. The other is to No. 2 West Nassau. They’ve got a 25-8 win over Union County on Oct. 8, so they get in ahead of the Tigers.

Stanton (8-2, SSAA), lost to KIPP Bold City, 22-20.
Keep an eye on
