Oct. 20 (UPI) — This City is Ours will return for a third season on BBC One.
BBC announced Tuesday that it renewed the crime drama series for Season 3 ahead of its Season 2 premiere.
This City is Ours is created, written and executive produced by Stephen Butchard. Jack McMullen stars as Jamie Phelan, the son of late crime boss Ronnie Phelan (Sean Bean) and Elaine Phelan (Julie Graham).
Season 2 opens with Michael (James Nelson-Joyce) and Diana (Hannah Onslow) being questioned about Ricardo’s death upon their arrival in Spain, while tensions grow among the gang members back in Liverpool.
“Meanwhile, an old school gangster from Ronnie’s era, recently out of prison, wants compensation from the firm,” an official synopsis reads.
Shaun Evans joins the cast as said gangster, Ozzie Thompson, with Alvaro Morte as Felipe. Other cast members include Mike Noble, Laura Aikman, Kevin Harvey, Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Darci Shaw, Adam Abbou and Bobby Schofield.
This City is Ours premiered in March 2025 and has averaged 6.3 million viewers to-date.
“Following the quite breathtaking response to series one, myself, the cast and our wonderful crew were all determined not to drop the ball and endeavor to deliver an even better series two! No spoilers, but I’m hoping this fantastic early commission from the BBC for a third series is an indication that we may have come closer to doing just that!” Butchard said in a statement.
Season 2 premieres Sunday on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Filming on Season 3 will take place in Liverpool in 2027.
