FLORENCE, S.C. (WBTV) – A racetrack that has operated for decades in South Carolina will not host race next year.
Florence Motor Speedway recently confirmed in a social media post that it would not put out a race schedule in 2027.
“We made it a mission to explore multiple options on how to face the adversity and somehow come out ahead,” the post read in part. “Unfortunately, we have now reached the point to where we feel we have exhausted all possible options and it no longer seems feasible to continue. This is a humbling sport as we all know and has been our only focus in life for so long.”
The 0.4-mile track has been open since 1982, and has attracted smoe of NASCAR’s biggest names in recent years.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. has raced at the track in each of the past several years, as has the CARS Tour, which Earnhardt co-owns.
Florence Motor Speedway was not added to the CARS Tour schedule in 2027.
