LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Nevada’s first stand-alone children’s hospital will be named the Intermountain Health Felicia and Ben Horowitz Children’s Hospital after the couple made a $150 million commitment to the project, the Intermountain Foundation announced Friday.

The gift is one of the largest ever made to a children’s hospital in the United States, according to Intermountain. The hospital is expected to break ground next week and open in 2030 at the UNLV Harry Reid Research and Technology Park in southwest Las Vegas.

Intermountain said the funding will support efforts to recruit pediatric providers, develop specialized programs and advance research. The hospital also plans to address needs including behavioral health and specialized pediatric care.

“Every parent wants to know that when their child needs care, the very best people and resources are there for them,” Felicia Horowitz said in a statement. She is president of the Horowitz Family Foundation and co-founder and president of The Paid in Full Foundation. Her husband, Ben Horowitz, is a co-founder and general partner of venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz.

Intermountain said the Las Vegas hospital is part of a broader effort to connect pediatric care across its health system, including specialty services at Primary Children’s Hospitals in Utah and expanded pediatric services in Billings, Montana.

The gift is part of the Nevada Campaign for Kids, a philanthropic effort supporting the new hospital. Bill Hornbuckle, CEO of MGM Resorts International, and Wendy Hornbuckle, co-chairs of the campaign, said the project aims to bring specialized care to children in Nevada.

The hospital is expected to serve Nevada families while contributing to Intermountain’s wider pediatric care network. The health system operates 34 hospitals and about 400 clinics across six western states.
