Women’s tennis is enjoying a real golden period of talent at the moment, with the strength in depth evident.
From the pinnacle down all the way through the rest of the top 100, it feels like there are so many superstars, both young and old, who are capable of winning titles and beating the best.
However, it is at that apex that the strength really lies, with the likes of Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff and Iga Swiatek all dominant forces in their own right.
It is this indomitable quality and their vastly varied game styles that make picking who might win the most major titles such a tricky task.
Lindsay Davenport did not hesitate with her selection, though.
Lindsay Davenport picks between Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka
Speaking on the Tennis Channel Live, the pundits sought to pick which of all the active Grand Slam title holders, excluding the legendary Venus Williams, would finish their career with the most.
Naturally, Swiatek, Sabalenka and Gauff dominated the conversation, with Davenport offering her pick of the bunch.

She admitted: “I’d say Iga.
“I say she continues exactly where she’s going right now, which is that all-encompassing attitude where everything I want to do is on the tennis court and achieve, and she’s so dedicated.
“She’s got the whole package. I don’t see her burning out also anytime soon. So I think Iga ends up with double digits.”
This provoked her fellow pundit, CoCo Vandeweghe, to agree: “I’d say Iga as well, just because the consistency of Roland Garros, she’ll always have that to bank on to be able to win more at Roland Garros.
“I would say double digits, if we’re gonna go exact number, I’m gonna go 12.”
Interestingly, Vandeweghe pointed out one trait that Sabalenka is developing which could help her beat Gauff more often.
Coco Gauff has youth on her side in the Grand Slam race
Although she is four major titles away from Swiatek’s tally of six, Gauff does have youth on her side, which could help her in this battle.
And that is a crucial factor, given Sabalenka turned 27 in May.
She is the outstanding dominant force on the WTA, and despite failing to add a Grand Slam to her tally in 2025, has reached two finals and another semi-final.
The Belarusian is always the favourite to win any event she enters, and is expected to continue adding to her collection before her career starts to slow down.
However, her tally of three major titles is just one better than Gauff, who is six years her junior.
The American has time on her side and talent in abundance. It would be unwise to count her out.
