EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – A new major sporting event is coming to town with a new opportunity to give back.
Golf Gives back is bringing professional women’s golf to Evansville for the first time.
Epson Tour professionals will make a stop to compete at the Evansville Country Club next spring.
The inaugural Evansville Championship will bring 132 professional golfers to the Tri-State to compete for a $250,000 purse.
The event will kick off scheduled for May 17th through the 22nd of next year, with the official tournament play beginning May 20th.
“We wanted to continue professional golf in Southern Indiana, and so we just felt like this was the event that would be perfect for Evansville,” says Jack Pate, board chair of Golf Gives Back. “And we’re very pleased that we’re able to sign a three-year agreement with the Epsom Tour and to bring and maintain professional golf in southern Indiana.”
During the event, Golf Gives Back will also present a major donation to Building Blocks of Southwestern Indiana, in support of its work serving children and families throughout our region.
