The HotelPlanner Tour schedule is over for another year – and this group of players will be playing at Europe’s top table in 2027…
The DP World Tour will have an array of new talent next year – as well as at least one familiar face.
The HotelPlanner Tour – formerly the Challenge Tour – hosted its Grand Final at the weekend, with the top 15 earning DP World Tour cards for the 2027 season.
Hamish Brown and Julien Sale were already guaranteed promotion, so it was just the small matter of deciding who finished first and second in the Road to Mallorca standings. Frenchman Sale made it interesting with a four-shot victory over his rival at the Grand Final, which took place at Club de Golf Alcanada in Spain, but his Danish rival’s runner-up spot was enough to cling on to the season-long title.
Meanwhile, only one player used to the Grand Final to move from outside the top 15 into one of the crucial spots – and that was tour veteran Marc Warren.
The Scot, who has made 500 DP World Tour starts and won four times between 2006 and 2020, carded a 15-under 273 in Mallorca to jump from 20th to 13th in the standings. Another tour veteran, Englishman Matthew Southgate was the unlucky player bumped to 16th.
Other familiar names that missed out include John Catlin, who has spent most of the last three years earning almost $4 million as a LIV Golf reserve, four-time DP World Tour winner David Horsey, and former Ryder Cup player Chris Wood, who is continuing his comeback from a battle with chronic anxiety.
