Actor and rapper Will Smith was recently spotted enjoying a live performance by instrumental progressive metal outfit Animals As Leaders during a private Halloween party celebrating his daughter Willow Smith’s 26th birthday. One could even say he went as far as “moshed”.
Footage shared on Instagram by New York drummer Marco Cirigliano shows the 58-year-old actor smiling, jumping and moving around with other attendees as the Washington, DC-based trio performed.
Willow, who has pursued a music career spanning hip-hop, alternative rock and experimental music, has previously spoken about her appreciation for heavier genres, including metal. During a 2022 interview with Guitar World, she discussed the range of influences behind her music, citing artists from Smashing Pumpkins to Lamb Of God.
Willow has also previously shared footage of herself alongside Animals As Leaders guitarist Tosin Abasi. In August, she posted an Instagram slideshow featuring the two playing the double-neck guitar/bass instrument belonging to Khn de Poitrine of Angine de Poitrine.
Notably, Willow’s mother, Jada Pinkett Smith, is a founder and front-woman for the metal act Wicked Wisdom which was formed in 2002.
