CARBONDALE, Ill. — Southern Illinois guard Ali Dibba will spend his final year of eligibility playing at the SEC level, transferring to Texas A&M, according to a post by the Aggies’ official X account.
The news comes as CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein reported Dibba was granted an extra year of eligibility by the NCAA.
Dibba was selected to the All-Missouri Valley Conference Third Team in the 2024-25 season, leading SIU in scoring at 17.2 points per game, his only season with the Salukis.
He joined the program after spending two years with Abilene Christian. He started his college career in 2021 with Chicago State, only playing 5 games. According to Chicago State, Dibba missed the non-conference slate “due to travel restrictions within his native Sweden.” He then returned to the team, but injured his hand after 5 games and did not play the rest of the year.
Dibba joins Kennard Davis as major departures from the SIU program this offseason. Davis transferred to BYU. The Salukis added 7 newcomers and returned 8 players this offseason.
