A new analysis examined President Donald Trump’s approval ratings based on how each state views him.

Nationally, Trump’s approval ratings are trending downward, with numbers falling in most polls. However, when looking at individual states, he receives approval for his performance in about half of them.

According to an analysis from Morning Consult, which gathers polls over three months to provide a snapshot of state-level data among registered voters, Trump’s approval ratings are net positive in 27 states, including Tennessee.

Here’s what Tennessee and the rest of the country think of the president.

Does Tennessee approve of Trump?

Tennessee ranks fifth among states in its approval of Trump. According to Morning Consult, 60% of Tennesseans approve of Trump and 37% disapprove.

Which states approve of Trump the most?

Trump is most popular with Morning Consult in Wyoming, where 66% of voters approve of his job performance. He primarily has a positive view in states that have mainly voted Republican in the past, such as those in the Mountain region and the South.

Which states approve of Trump the least?

Trump is least popular in Vermont, where 64% disapprove of his job performance. For the most part, Trump had the least favor in states in the Northeast and on the West Coast.

What is Trump’s approval overall?

The RealClearPolitics Poll Average indicates that Trump’s approval rating became increasingly negative throughout the first few weeks of July, before rebounding toward the end of the month. Aggregated polls by the New York Times show a similar trend.

As of Jan. 27, Trump received a +6.2 percentage point approval rating, but as of March 13, it flipped to slightly negative, the RealClearPolitics graphics show. The approval rating reached its most negative point on April 29, at -7.2 percentage points, which coincided with Trump’s 100-day mark. It came close to that low again on July 22 and 23 at -7.1 percentage points, as the controversy over Epstein carried into its third week.

His average approval rating margin as of Aug. 12, according to RealClearPolitics, is -5.4 percentage points. The approval margin, according to the New York Times aggregator on Aug. 12, is -8 percentage points.
