NORTH LOGAN – Utah State University’s Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) has a new Department of Defense University Affiliated Research Center (UARC) Sponsor.
Assuming that role is the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Space Acquisition and Integration. SDL was designated as one of the original six UARCs and was sponsored by the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) for nearly 30 years.
Research areas at SDL are varied and include autonomous systems and intelligent control; space mission design and operations; advanced sensing and systems and integrated command and control, and data systems.
Dr. Jed Hancock, SDL President, said SDL’s long-standing commitment to advance technologies for national defense reflects a deep alignment with the space mission of the Department of the Air Force.
SDL’s first contract in 1959 was awarded by the Air Force Cambridge Research Laboratories (AFCRL)
USU’s Innovative Campus in North Logan, Utah is headquarters for the Space Dynamic Lab. SDL field offices are located in Huntsville, AL, Ogden, UT, Albuquerque, NM, Chantilly VA and Stafford, VA.
