A boil water advisory was issued in Old Bridge following a water main break.

The break was first reported on Route 516 on Monday afternoon. The Old Bridge Municipal Utilities Authority issued the advisory as a precaution.


A water main break was reported on County Road 516 near Cherry Creek Drive in Old Bridge.

Customers are advised to bring their water to a rolling boil for one minute before consuming. Bottled water can also be used.

“This alert will be lifted after our water has been tested and certified by the [Department of Environmental Protection] within the next 48 hours,” officials wrote in a statement.

Residents are also advised not to use home filtering devices in place of boiled water.
