Geddes, N.Y. — Right now, inside a giant glass refrigerator at the New York State Fairgrounds, 800 pounds of butter are being shaped into… well, something. Two people know what it is. The rest of us have to wait until later this morning.

That’s when sculptors Jim Victor and Marie Pelton will step out of the chilly Dairy Products Building and unveil the fair’s creamiest tradition: the 57th annual American Dairy Association North East butter sculpture.

It happens at 9:30 a.m. today, and you don’t need a ticket to see it first. We’ll stream it live on syracuse.com’s Facebook page, so you can watch from your couch, your desk, or while standing in line for your morning coffee.

After the reveal, we’ll post photos, video and the backstory. We’ll give you a spoiler warning if you’d rather discover it in person when the fair opens the next day.

Until then, your guess is as good as ours.
