MISSOULA, Mont. — Wildlife officials have relocated a subadult male grizzly bear to an area near Yellowstone National Park following a livestock conflict on U.S. Forest Service lands.
According to the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, the bear was captured on August 15, 2025, after it was confirmed to have killed cattle. In consultation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Shoshone National Forest, the animal was moved to the Mormon Creek drainage, about five miles from Yellowstone National Park’s east entrance.
Grizzly bear relocation is a management tool used to reduce conflicts between humans and bears. The department emphasized the role of the public in preventing conflicts, urging residents and visitors to properly store attractants such as garbage, pet food, bird seed, and horse feed.
