Ryan Preece
Dover Fantasy Outlook – Don’t overlook Ryan Preece at Dover. Preece has a trash track record but with how well the #60 team is running right now, I’m just going to view him as a driver without a track record and look for him to be a top ten contender. His teammates have had success here, so there’s no reason he shouldn’t with how well he’s running. This year at intermediate tracks, Preece ranks 8th in terms of Total Speed Rankings.
Dover Track History – Ryan Preece has competed in all three Next Gen races at Dover and over the combined races, Preece has a 26.3 average finish and ranks 24th in terms of Next Gen Speed Rankings. Last year, Preece finished 37th. On lap 68 while running in the low 30’s, Preece’s door foam was on fire and that led to a DNF. In 2023, Preece finished 17th. Additionally, Preece had a 20.9 average running position, ranked 19th for Speed Late In A Run and had the 20th best Total Speed Ranking. In 2022 in a tuned-up Rick Ware Racing entry, Preece finished 25th. In the race, Preece had a 20.2 average running position and the 22nd best Total Speed Ranking. That said, Preece didn’t have an incident free race. On lap 300 he was in 16th but then on lap 313 he made an unexpected pit stop and his team popped up his hood for some sort of engine related issue.
Joey Logano
Dover Fantasy Outlook – Joey Logano is a strong Dover performer but proceed with maximum caution if you’re thinking of picking him. He’s yet to have a good race in the Next Gen and over the last three, Logano has a 25.3 average finish and ranks 27th in terms of Next Gen Speed Rankings. That said, he certainly knows how to run well at Dover and in 5 of the last 9 races, he’s finished between 3rd to 8th. Heading into the weekend, I would view Logano as a risky top ten contender.
Dover Track History – Joey Logano has consistently performed at a high-level at “The Monster Mile”, except for of course the last three which outline the Next Gen era, which is of course a little concerning. Last year, Logano just wasn’t great. In the race, Logano finished 16th, had an 18.6 average running position and then ranked 22nd in terms of Total Speed Rankings. In 2023, Logano corded tires in practice, corded tires in the race and that issue bit him on lap 386 when he was many laps down back around 29th and then crashed. At no point in the race was the #22 ever competitive with his Total Speed Ranking being 27th and his average running position being 23.3. In 2022, Logano was never competitive, and his race also wasn’t incident free. In the race, Logano started 22nd, and consistently ran in the 20’s until he had trouble during a restart in the lap 190’s when he got into the wall hard after contact with Erik Jones. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Logano ranked 29th and in no segment was he quicker than 24th. Over the six races prior to that, Logano had results of 5th, 6th, 8th, 34th, 7th and 3rd.
Josh Berry
Dover Fantasy Outlook – Josh Berry will be a driver to watch at Dover. Berry’s run well over his two previous races (12th place average finish) and then when you pair it with the speed he’s shown at times at intermediate tracks in 2025, good things might happen. This year at intermediate tracks in terms of speed, Berry ranks 7th. Heading into the weekend, I would view him as a teens driver who might be a factor for a top ten.
Dover Track History – Josh Berry has already made two starts at Dover and between the combined races, Berry has a 12.0 average finish and ranks 13th in terms of Next Gen Speed Rankings. Last year, Berry had a mid-teens afternoon. In the race, Berry finished 14th, had a 15.5 average running position and ranked 15th in terms of Total Speed Rankings. In 2023 in the #48, Berry had a hot rod and finished 10th. Additionally, Berry had an 11.8 average running position and the 11th best Total Speed Ranking.
