Wu Yibing is competing in the US Open for the first time since 2023.

Wu Yibing made a good start to his US Open qualifying campaign Tuesday when he eliminated Juan Pablo Ficovich 6-3, 6-3.
The Chinese star has been making his comeback from injury, with recent standout results including a run to the third round in Washington as a qualifier. This is his first time competing in the US Open since 2023, when he reached the second round of the main draw.
Some of the top seeds in qualifying fell to upset defeats. Jerome Kym ousted third seed Carlos Taberner 7-6(2), 6-1, Kyrian Jacquet beat seventh seed Liam Draxl 7-5, 6-2 and Daniel Merida upset eighth seed Dalibor Svrcina 1-6, 6-3, 7-5.
Bernard Tomic, the former No. 17 player in the PIF ATP Rankings, defeated Patrick Kypson 6-4, 6-4. The Aussie is trying to reach his first major main draw since the 2021 Australian Open.
