Three Star Peach County Safety Bryson Hughley Commits to Play Collegiate Ball at the United States Air Force Academy
FORT VALLEY, Georgia – (41NBC/WMGT) – Signing Day was a celebration at Peach County High School on Tuesday as senior safety Bryson Hughley officially committed to continue his football career at the United States Air Force Academy.
The three-star prospect made his decision in front of family, teammates and coaches, including his mother, Shaniqua Caldwell, a 1997 Peach County graduate who now serves as the school’s head cheer coach and counselor.
Hughley chose Air Force over offers from East Carolina, UNLV, and the United States Naval Academy. He will transition from safety to cornerback at the collegiate level.
“It’s a lot of love right there. I told [my teammates] I needed them here, and they were my morale support,” Hughley said. “[Committing to play college football] means everything. It was my life goal since I was a kid when I picked up the football. It’s finally coming true, mainly because of the relationship with the coaches. Coach Jackson, he was the main reason why I’m committed right now. The relationship with him was very strong. He cared about me as a young man, not only as a football player, and that was one of the reasons why I chose Air Force.”
Hughley said he’s excited to represent South Georgia at the next level.
“They’re getting a long, lanky cornerback out of me, out of South Georgia, just utilizing my length, my size, that’s an attribute that everybody doesn’t get,” he said. “So I’m just trying to take advantage of it.”
