A 13-year-old girl died in a crash early Tuesday morning on the North Shore and a 16-year-old boy was arrested on a charge of operating under the influence, officials confirmed.The deadly crash in the area of 352 Atlantic Avenue in Marblehead occurred at 2:51 a.m., according to a statement issued by Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker and Marblehead Police Chief Dennis King. First responders found a vehicle that had suffered extensive damage. The 13-year-old was pronounced dead on the scene. Marblehead Public Schools Superintendent John Robidoux said the girl was an eighth-grade student in the district. “Her death is a devastating loss to our community,” Robidoux said in a statement. Officials said the suspected driver was treated for his injuries and taken to a local hospital.
