Dunwoody police have one suspect in custody and two others are on the run after a burglary at Perimeter Mall. The department says one of its officers shot at the suspects.
Channel 2’s Brittany Kleinpeter reported live from the scene on Channel 2 Action News This Morning as the investigation unfolded.
Sgt. Michael Cheek with Dunwoody police told Channel 2 Action News that officers responded to a burglary call at the mall early Thursday morning.
The suspects broke into Request Boutique, a high-end sneaker store. A mall security guard saw the suspects leave the store and confronted them. Police told Kleinpeter that the suspects stole the guard’s vehicle.
The suspects started a brief chase that ended across the street on Perimeter Center East.
Dunwoody police said officers confronted the suspects and that is when police fired shots. Two of the suspects got out of the car and ran. The driver took off in the car and crashed down the road.
Officers took one suspect who had a gunshot wound into custody around 8:30 a.m. The other two remain on the run.
Police have not identified the suspects.
