Matthew McConaughey is going viral for a sweet gesture he made towards Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their children at Wimbledon.
The Academy Award-winning actor, 55, is being praised for standing up and clapping for the royal couple and their two eldest children – Prince George and Princess Charlotte – upon their arrival at Wimbledon on Sunday, July 13.
A fan posted the video of the interaction on X, and many users were quick to notice the actor’s kind gesture, calling the Texas native a “southern gentleman.”
“McConaughey surely respects everyone he encounters” wrote one user. “Real class” commented another.
“Matthew has always been a class act” noticed one fan. “Matthew was raised right. Always something I have always admired” added another.
Several commenters pointed out that the gesture comes shortly after the Princess of Wales opened up about her recovery following her cancer battle. The Princess is currently in the process of resuming her royal duties after being treated for an undisclosed form of cancer last year.
However, the Interstellar actor isn’t the only one honoring the royal couple this weekend. On Saturday, July 12, during the ladies’ singles final between Poland’s Iga Swiatek and the U.S.’s Amanda Anisimova, Middleton was greeted with a standing ovation from onlookers.
